A historic Black landmark in West Oakland, closed. Reopening it was a cultural question and an operational one, and most attempts at this fail on the second.
What was built.
Stakeholder engagement across community, civic, and business partners. A multi-platform communications strategy. Then a business incubator inside the building, with a recruited cohort of Black entrepreneurs and co-facilitated business plan development.
